Campo dei Fiori’s square is historically the most interesting square of Rome. In ancient times the square was a flowery meadow with houses sited just on one side. In the XV century it was a fixed passage for all the ambassadors going to the papal palace and it is during this period that all the changes took place with the construction of inns and hotels. This area wasn’t just a place of recreation but the site of countless executions. In the middle of the Campo a statue commemorates the death of its most famous victim : Giordano Bruno who rises above the bustle with his arms folded over a book. During the morning Campo dei Fiori is a bustling marketplace that turns into a classy place of the Roman movida.
